Our client who are a SME multi-strat trading firm are looking to hire a Group Accountant. Someone who is recently qualified with up to 1-2 years PQE will be considered.

They work to a hybrid schedule or 2-3 days in the office per week.

You will be responsible for a handful of UK entities, overseeing everything from balance sheet control to preparation of statutory accounts. You will also be involved in Finance transformation projects, help to improve processes throughout the team, and help to train and mentor graduate trainees. Their Finance Team is rapidly expanding, but retains a collegial and close-knit culture. They have a strong commitment to learning and development, and within Finance this may include, amongst other things, developing technical professional skills, management training or learning to code in Python/SQL.

The Group Accountant will have responsibilities for the following but not limited to:

• Produce statutory financial statements for UK and group entities
• Maintain accounting policies and notes for complex and high risk transactions
• Keep up to date with developments in IFRS
• Manage and train graduate trainees and team members
• Completion of quarterly FCA returns and semi-annual FINREP return
• Identify and implement improvements within existing processes
• Project management of annual audit process
• Oversee balance sheets for subset of legal entities
• Ad hoc project work as required

The Group Accountant applying for this role will require the following:

• Experience preparing financial statements essential
• ACA, CIMA or ACCA Qualified recently or up to 1-2 years PQE
• Exposure to financial services through practice or industry background essential
• Exposure to regulatory reporting desirable
• Strong level of proficiency in MS Excel
• Good understanding of existing IFRS requirements and ability to analyse and interpret other reporting frameworks
