Data Analyst (SQL)

We partnered with a major Alternative Finances Retailer as they look for an experienced SQL Data Analyst to join their teams urgently. They have offices in Sutton and are happy for the right candidate to work on a remote basis.

The role has come about as their team identified a skills gap in SQL as they try to increase robustness of their reporting.

You must be an expert in SQL and VBA, querying database(s), mapping data linage, undertaking data reconciliations and resolving data related issues and problems.

What the data analyst will do:

• Change (or suggest other solutions) for the Excel files that call a macro to read SQL to change the process. (i.e. PowerQuery based solutions)
• Change the existing SQL queries (currently using complex subqueries) to use functions, views and stored procedures, so to facilitate the reading and future alteration of queries
• Examine solutions PowerPivot and DAX or other techniques for the budget file that currently runs in VBA and consolidates 300 stores
• Prioritise requirements and fully document roadmaps and manuals for our reports that are VBA reliant
• Running, maintaining, updating, changing and improving of SQL queries, new and existing.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Advanced SQL user, and comfortable writing and understanding within a complex dataset to support the business in the running and maintaining of SQL queries, new and existing. Includes creating functions, views and stored procedures
• Proficient in Excel (advanced / macros / VBA programming)
• Manage and prioritise incoming requests across multiple teams; independently execute multiple data processing requests simultaneously
• Detail orientated, with a strong focus on quality control checks for deliverables and problem solving/troubleshooting skills
• Practical experience and knowledge of PowerQuery, PowerPivot and DAX with formula writing skills.
• Experience providing 1st line support.
• Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills for technical and non-technical team.
• The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• A team player who can use their initiative and work on their own.
