Job Title: Senior Financial Accountant

Reports to: Finance Director

Type: Permanent, Hybrid

The company:

The role sits with one of the worlds market leaders in renewable energy development based in Africa. With the head office located in the UK, they are a market leader in the development of solar and energy storage projects using smart technology.

Our client has developed and built some of the largest and modern solar and hybrid projects across Africa.

The role:

Working within the Finance team and closely with other project teams to:

  • Manage all accounting/tax operations of the Group's Renewables Division, primarily overseeing various third party service providers in African countries, consolidating in a UK parent company
  • Liaise with business owners to facilitate treasury movements and to capture transactional in-formation required for accounting and tax recording
  • Ensure business transactions are communicated and recorded appropriately by service providers in subsidiary countries
  • Oversight of Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and Revenue Recognition of renewable development projects
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Prepare and publish timely quarterly and ad hoc financial statements and group reporting packages

What we are looking for:

  • Proven working experience as a Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager (African experience preferred
  • Experience in the renewables industry (solar development projects) desirable, but not mandatory
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Advanced degree in Accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • ACCA or CMA preferred
  • Experience in overseeing activities of third party accounting and tax service providers

Essential skills:

  • Expert level proficiency in MS Excel
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Proven ability to implement a range of internal controls both in a manual and systems driven environment
  • Ability to keep up with a fast-moving environment and growing company which is adding new development projects in various African countries
  • Experience with producing financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
