We are delighted to be supporting one of our top clients on a super urgent contract opportunity based in Central London. Having successfully completed recent work with the company, they are now in urgent need of a part-qualified Financial Accountant to assist them through year-end, focusing on technical reporting under IFRS and UK GAAP.

This is a group finance role under a maternity cover until the end of April. They are open to both day rate or fixed-term contract (£45,000-£50,000 DOE) but you MUST be immediately available or on a 1 week notice period max.

They have a very open culture and a flexible working model (3 days per week in the office, 2 at home). They are all incredibly supportive and hard working with a passion for attention to detail and supporting their portfolio of clients.

Job title: Year End Accountant

Position Reports to: Group Finance Manager

Location: London

What is the purpose of the role:

This is a role for a part qualified accountant for five months. The individual will work with the Group Finance Manager and support the preparation of the Group's full year external reporting, monthly Group consolidation and statutory reporting. The role works closely with the Group Financial Controller.

Key activities:

External reporting:

  • Support preparation of consolidated annual Group financial statements and supporting notes under IFRS for the Annual Report and results announcements
  • Support the preparation of audit committee papers.
  • Support the global audit process including year-end planning and liaison with external auditors
  • Support preparation of UK subsidiary statutory accounts under UK GAAP

Monthly reporting:

  • Support completion of month end consolidation tasks, including review of balance sheet, cash flow and below EBITDA submissions
  • Review and challenge balance sheet reconciliations prepared by subsidiaries

Other:

  • Technical financial accounting support to regional finance teams
  • Undertake internal controls reviews

What will you bring to the role:

  • Part Qualified Accountant, at least 5 years experience (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Experience of external financial reporting for UK publicly quoted entities (AIM or main market)
  • Exposure of tax planning and compliance (especially UK)
  • Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced level spreadsheet skills and PC literacy
  • Sound understanding of consolidation principles and processes
  • Experience of SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) system would be helpful
  • Good academic record
  • Strong written reporting skills
  • Confident communication skills to liaise with external advisors and senior management
  • Drive to continually improve processes and seek new challenges
  • Self-starter, ability to work well under pressure, work accurately with attention to detail, and meet deadlines
