Financial Analyst/FP&A Analyst - 12 month FTC

  • Day rate £450-550/day (umbrella)
  • Based in Royston Service Centre - (SG8 5HE), 1 day per week onsite (flex up/down dependent on tasks)

The Opportunity

A leading FTSE 100 multinational chemicals and sustainable technologies company is looking for a FP&A Analyst based in North Hertfordshire (Royston) to joint the team on a Contract basis, reporting to the Plant Finance Manager.

Job purpose

The FP&A Analyst is part of the team responsible for delivering all aspects of plant management accounting including cost management, cost accounting & control, cash flow management, Management Reporting & analysis, variance analysis and budgeting & forecasting.

The Financial Analyst works closely with the plant Transactional Processing team, the Plant Finance lead and operational stakeholders locally, as well as with the Sector Finance teams. The Analyst will be jointly responsible for the completion of monthly reporting and analysis including submissions to JM Group reporting and the Clean Air Sector teams, as required.

The key element of the role is to ensure that the financial reporting reflects the operational performance of the plant; that performance is understood and clearly communicated.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of regular reporting cycle, provide Plant Management team, Business and Finance stakeholders with prompt, clear, comprehensive reporting summarising monthly performance e.g. for operating profits, capex and working capital against targets. Specifically:
  • Jointly accountable for MOR (Monthly Operating Report) and FF (Financial Forecast) submissions for all local cost centres (Plant & Non-Plant related).

  • working capital and net debt / cash including intercompany balances (royalties and services) and overdues.
  • Accountable for reviewing all local cost centres and identifying to the GL Accountants & Metal Accountants any accounting entries required to ensure that monthly costs are recorded accurately.
  • Provide details cost centre downloads as required to Clean Air Sector Finance team to support functional overhead global reporting
  • Accountable for reviewing working capital levels with the GL Accountants & Metal Accountants and ensuring any accounting entries required are made to ensure that balance sheets are recorded accurately.

  • closely with the HR team to ensure headcount numbers and costs are accurately reflected in the right cost centres and in future forecasts of costs.
  • Accountable for developing and submitting Plant budgets, forecasting templates, and long-range plans within the JM Clean Air planning and forecasting cycles including Plant Profit & Loss (including a granular understanding of headcount and people costs), Balance Sheet, Working Capital, Capex & Cashflow forecasting.
  • Work closely with the Sector FP&A team to provide a robust suite of standard operational management reports and dashboards enabling monitoring and measuring of key cost drivers to support management insights.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Plant Management team and Sector team stakeholders involved in Plant management accounting processes and support the development and adherence to local accounting policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Plant Finance Manager to provide business partnering support to the plant operations team undertaking variance analysis reviews on standards, identification of trend and preparing root cause analysis. Use this analysis to improve profit and working capital by identifying risks and opportunities, translating this into actionable insights and plans, setting stretch target plans and monitoring plan execution.
  • Prepare ad hoc Plant financial analysis to support Plant Management team with tactical and strategic decision-making including process optimisation suggestions.

Experience and skills:

  • University degree qualification.
  • BCom Financial management, CA(SA) or CIMA would be an advantage.
  • Significant and substantial experience embedding compliance to accounting policies and controls in a global organisation.
  • Significant and substantial experience within Finance function preferably in the manufacturing environment.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in leading Finance Shared Services teams within a corporate environment.
  • Experience of chemicals / automotive industry.
