Job description

Title: Controller (Tax)

Location: Manchester

Contract Length: 2 months

Day rate (DOE): £370-£420

We are seeking an experienced Controller (Tax) to join the Global Accounting & Controlling organization. The role is responsible for overseeing tax accounting and compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring financial accuracy, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This position manages a small team and plays a key role in driving operational excellence, compliance, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day tax accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Review and approve VAT/GST filings across various regions.

  • Oversee the integrity and quality of relevant balance sheet areas.

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (internal and external).

  • Provide guidance to the team on complex accounting and tax matters.

  • Collaborate with senior finance stakeholders and external tax advisors.

  • Support statutory audits, SOX compliance, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, driving engagement and growth.

  • Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACA/ACCA qualification preferred.

  • 5-8 years' experience in finance or accounting, ideally within a Big 4 or multinational environment.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, SOX compliance, and indirect tax processes.

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop teams.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in SAP and other financial systems.

  • Fluent in English with a proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative approach.
