Job description
We are partnered with a Global Technology company who are seeking a skilled Revenue Accountant with in-depth knowledge of IFRS, revenue recognition, and the management of deferred and recurring contracts to join their London team. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate revenue reporting, compliance with financial regulations, and provide valuable insights into revenue streams and trends. This role plays a crucial part in the finance team by helping maintain the integrity of revenue records, improving financial performance analysis, and ensuring that the business adheres to accounting standards and practices.
You will be responsible for:
- Revenue Recognition Compliance: Ensure that revenue is recognised in line with IFRS (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), applying the five-step model to identify, allocate, and recognise revenue appropriately.
- Contract Review and Analysis: Review customer contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with accounting policies and revenue recognition criteria, including deferred revenue and recurring contracts.
- Deferred Revenue Management: Manage the accounting and reporting of deferred revenue, ensuring accurate tracking of unearned revenue and timely recognition of revenue as performance obligations are met.
- Recurring Revenue Accounting: Accurately record and monitor recurring revenue streams, ensuring all contractual terms are met and reflected in financial statements.
- Revenue Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports and analysis, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Reconciliation and Analysis: Perform balance sheet reconciliations of revenue-related accounts, including deferred revenue and accounts receivable.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the sales, operations, and legal teams to ensure proper revenue recognition and accounting for new contracts and agreements.
- Audit Support: Assist in both internal and external audits, providing supporting documentation for revenue and contract-related inquiries.
- System Improvements: Identify and implement process improvements for revenue recognition and contract management in accounting systems (e.g., ERP systems).
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and reporting requirements related to revenue recognition.
You will need:
- Fully or part qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years experience in similar revenue accounting role.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with IFRS 15 and other applicable revenue recognition standards.
- Strong understanding of deferred and recurring contracts, and related accounting procedures.
